The meeting of the Italian-Russian Governing Committee on cooperation within the nuclear-powered submarines disposal has been arranged

On 15-16 of June, 2016 there was held the XX meeting of the Italian-Russian Governing Committee on cooperation within disposal of the nuclear-powered submarines decommissioned by the Navy and the security of radioactive waste and spent fuel management in accordance with the agreement signed in Rome on November 5, 2003.

Among the participants one could meet Director for Public Policy on Radioactive Waste, Spent Nuclear Fuel and Nuclear Decommissioning in Rosatom Oleg Kryukov,  Head of the Management Office for NPS Complex Disposal of Rosatom’s Nuclear and Radiation Security Department Anatoly Zakharchev, Head of the Office for International Programs’ Coordination and Performance in Rosatom Anatoly Grigoryev, RosRAO’s Director General Vladimir Luzin, Director of the North-Western Center for Radioactive Waste Management «SevRAO» (RosRAO’s subsidiary) Valery Panteleev and representatives of the Italian party: Giovanni Batista Narbone – GC Co-Chairman, MED of Italy, Rosaria Fausta Romano – GC member, Head of the Directorate of MED of Italy, Head of Moscow Quarters Fausto Santopadre, Massimiliano Nobile   (SUE – Director), Mikele Shisholi – Deputy Director of SUE on Administration, Antonio Spadoni – Deputy Director on Technical Issues.

The participants of the meeting discussed the matters of the effective and future contracts for the supply of diesel generators to Andreeva Bay and a tug to Saida Bay. A lot of attention was spent to the issue of spent fuel disposal from «Admiral Ushakov»’s reactors, the works are intended to be completed before the end of 2016.
